Urban Tykes was born out of a mom’s painful experience when traveling with her baby. Our founder Billy loves traveling with her daughter because of the experiences and memories they share, but she loathes having to sacrifice leaving behind so much baby gear at the expense of traveling light.
On top of that, she always had anxiety over budgeting each trip. And it didn’t make sense to her that when they do decide to bring the bulky baby gear, they awkwardly lug them through airports but don’t really use them until they get to their destination.
Meanwhile, she also realized (especially now with a new baby in the picture) that their home was accumulating quite the inventory of under-utilized baby gear. She felt so wasteful seeing these barely-used equipment gathering dust.
So she started Urban Tykes to solve the family travel conundrum–through our platform, parents who want to earn extra money to fund their next trip can do so by renting out their baby gear to families visiting their city, and young families can now travel lighter and enjoy their vacations better when they rent the baby gear they need from a local parent.
Urban Tykes aims to build a tribe of parents helping parents stress less and smile more, one trip at a time!

We're committed to affecting change, one child at a time
We want to be an active part of the solution to issues affecting children in the US and all over the world–food insecurity, malnutrition, homelessness, and undereducation.
By donating a percentage of our profits to causes championing these issues, volunteering our time to help spread awareness, and actively campaigning for solutions within our community, the Urban Tykes team takes a stand for the children and for the bright futures that they deserve.
